What Is an IPL Photofacial?
IPL is a light-based technology that targets specific colors in the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue. Unlike a laser that uses a single wavelength of light, IPL delivers a broad spectrum of light energy that is absorbed by two main targets: melanin (brown spots/pigmentation) and hemoglobin (redness/broken capillaries). When this light energy is absorbed, it converts to heat, breaking down the excess pigment and collapsing visible blood vessels. The body then naturally filters these particles out through its lymphatic system or brings them to the surface to be shed.

The Procedure
After cleansing the skin, a cool conductive gel is applied. You will be provided with protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the bright flashes. Our clinician will then glide the applicator across the treatment area, delivering pulses of light. Most clients describe the sensation as a light snap of a rubber band. A full-face session typically takes 20 to 30 minutes.

IPL Photofacial Recovery and Results
The IPL process at Deluxe Med Spa is designed for efficiency and clinical precision. While some light-based treatments can be intense, our technology integrates cooling mechanisms to keep the skin comfortable.
Immediately After Treatment
Your skin may feel warm and look flushed, similar to a mild sunburn, which usually resolves within 4 to 24 hours. Targeted brown spots will begin to darken, a process known as “peppering.”
Days 3-7
Darkened pigment will naturally rise to the surface and flake off. It is crucial not to scrub or pick at these spots; they must shed naturally.
Vascular Results
Redness and broken capillaries often fade or disappear quickly as the vessels are absorbed by the body.
Optimal Outcomes
While a single session provides a noticeable refresh, we recommend a series of 3 to 5 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. To maintain clarity and combat the natural maturation process, 1 or 2 maintenance sessions per year are recommended.
